This weekend was a busy but good one. We spent it with good friends and out enjoying the great weather.
Friday night Michael & I went to dinner at Wicked Weed with his aunt & uncle as well as another couple that was visiting with them. I had only met Michael's aunt one time but it felt like we had all known each other for so long, even his uncle and the other couple with them. We had good conversations, good food and interesting tasting margaritas but it was a great way to spend the night. The two couples were heading to Maggie Valley for a weekend getaway and to celebrate Michael's aunt and uncles anniversary so it was sweet of them to stop in Asheville for dinner with us.
Saturday started out bright and early at 7 AM to pack up and head to Wilson Creek for the day and Burnsville that night. Michael is part of a kayaking team called Team Latestart and a bunch of the team members were heading out to the river so Pax and I tagged along. It started out chilly that morning but turned into a gorgeous sunny day. Once we got to the river the guys got ready and I helped run shuttle then went down to the bottom and chatted with two other guys from the team and their wife & fiance until the others got done with their first lap. For their second lap I went down by the water at the take-out and set up my hammock and let pax play around in the water and sand. It was the perfect spot for an afternoon nap and after waking up so early I was definitely in need of one. Side note, fun fact about me is I hate naps...I always feel terrible after waking up from one no matter how badly I needed it. The guys headed up for one more lap so I sat at the take out and straightened up the car and played around on my ipad for a bit until they got done. Once they finished up for the day they all got changed and loaded up gear and we all sat around catching up for a bit.

After spending all day on the river we headed off to Bursnville (about an hour outside of Asheville) to our friend Nate's house for his going away party. Everyone from the river except for one couple caravan-ed our way out there to grill out and just have fun before Nate moves out to Colorado. He lives in this awesome little cabin in a spot surrounded by gorgeous mountain views. We grilled so much food, steaks. hamburgers hotdogs, sausages, baked potatoes and a ton more. Keep in mind there were only 8 of us out there so there was so much left over. It was so much fun getting to spend time with everyone, we played farkle, looked at old kayaking pictures, played with the dogs and just enjoyed each others company. After I went to bed I ended up not feeling very well so I got little to no sleep that night and was definitely feeling the effects Sunday morning. I got up and Nate had some coffee brewing so I took full advantage of that and enjoyed a cup on the porch with amazing views.
We headed home around 10:30 and got back around noon so we unpacked the car and cleaned up. I started laundry and took a much needed shower then hopped into bed. I was SO exhausted from being up so early with only about an hours sleep. I knew Michael was going to be watching football so I took a nap and ended up sleeping from 2-5:30....I couldn't believe what time it was when I woke up. I got up and got myself moving then made dinner for Michael and I and we spent the rest of the night watching The Blacklist. After watching a few episodes of that I headed to our room to watch the new episode of Once Upon A Time and I hit our bed riser as I was walking in and ended up breaking my toe. Awesome end to a great weekend, huh?
Overall, we had a really good weekend but I'll definitely be okay with taking it easy this week, especially since I limp terribly when I walk now. Broken toes aren't cool.
