and I'm back. Back to the glorious mountains, cool weather and little to no humidity. I had a great vacation but it feels good to be home. I'll also finally be back to blogging normal again which I'm excited about so for today I wanted to recap the last half of my vacation.
I ended with Wednesday so picking up with Thursday Jackie and I decided to wake up early, grab breakfast and head back to the sound to go kayaking. We had a delicious breakfast at this place called Boathouse and I was so full by the time we left. It was also nice to be up early enough to enjoy a cup of hot coffee rather than down an iced one because of the heat there. Once we got to the sound it we pulled out the kayaks and loaded up. I've tried my hand at whitewater kayaking and quickly realized it wasn't for me so I thought ocean kayaking might not be that hard. Wrong. I was terrible and may or may not have broken down in the middle of the water. It was much harder than I thought and I got really discouraged by it. I ended up pulling off to a small island and Jackie came up and reassured me it wasn't easy and that she had her fair share of hard time kayaking as well. We decided to stay where we were and swim around in the sound but after about an hour a storm started coming up so we high tailed it back to her fiance's aunts house. After that we headed back to my sisters to wait on a package she was expecting. That night once my sister got home from class we went to dinner at Flaming Amy's. It's a local burrito barn that is SO good. I would probably end up being a regular there if I lived in Wilmington. Oh and they have the best cucumber salsa, ever.
Friday morning I woke up and headed over to Jackie's house so we could plan our day. We ended up taking it pretty easy then decided to head to lunch with her roommate Sam. We went and grabbed lunch at chipotle then Jackie and I went to a cupcake store and got some delicious cupcakes. After a while I headed back to my sisters to marinate salmon for dinner that night and start some laundry. Once my sister got home from work we cooked dinner and then went out to do some shopping. Bath & Body Works has all of their fall candles out so my sister picked some of those up and then I got a couple shirts from GAP. On our way home it started down pouring so we called it a night and went back to the apartment to relax.
Saturday was quite eventful in a way we hadn't planned. Our plan was to explore Wilmington for places where One Tree Hill was filmed. First we went to the bridge that is in the opening credits of the show then decided to go find the house that one of the main characters lived in. On the way there my sister accidentally turned too close to a curb and a drain cut a hole in her tire which instantly went flat. Luckily, a young guy saw us pulled over and offered to change the tire for us. We probably would have had to wait a while for tripleA so we really appreciated his help. Once he changed the tire we went to a tire place to see if they could patch it...they couldn't. So we started calling everywhere looking for a used tire that she could use for a couple days until my mom could bring her a new one, everywhere we called was either closed or didn't have one. We finally ended up going to SAMS's club and just getting a new tire. After spending all day with that we went to grab lunch and then I had to head back and pack my stuff up to get started home.
Saturday night I stayed in my hometown and went out to dinner with my mom & Pax. It was fun getting to hang out and eat at one of my favorite restaurants with her. Sunday I got up early and headed home to Asheville with Pax and got home to find Michael had locked himself out of our apartment without his phone for 3 hours...he was definitely happy to see me pull up.
Overall I had a great time and really enjoyed some time away but it's nice to be back into my usual routine again.
