"You know what music is? God's little reminder that there's something else besides us in this universe; harmonic connection between all living beings, everywhere, even the stars." August Rush
My music choices are about as random as they come, which shows quite well in this playlist. Some songs are old, some are newer but they're all ones I'm really in to so I hope you enjoy!

Did that title throw you off? Don't worry it threw me too but I promise this post does not involve any skinny dipping. I've mentioned before that Michael and I live less than 5 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway so on Saturday our friends Alex & Sarah mentioned going swimming at a spot off the parkway. We packed bags & clothes for the short hike & swim and then headed up the parkway. It took about a 30 minute drive to get to the overlook where we would park....which had the most awesome view of Looking Glass Rock. Sadly it was raining and thundering lightly when we got there but since we would be in the woods and swimming we really did mind. Sarah and I were the only ones who actually brought jackets thankfully. It was a short 15 minute hike to the falls on a trail full of roots and mud but once you made it there the area was gorgeous. You walk down a flight of stairs and to the left is the waterfall and a place to jump in at and to your right is a pool of water and nice are to sit and hang out. While people were over jumping we sat all our stuff down and explored while testing the water. Alex warned us that the water would be really cold but for August I was not expecting it to be as cold as it was. After hanging around for a bit we decided to take the plunge (literally) and jump in, Alex & Michael went first and then Sarah and I almost backed out but gave in and jumped. The water was absolutely freezing, it was almost hard to breathe because the cold shocked you so much but once you got out it felt so good because the temperature of the air was so much warmer. The boys took a couple more jumps while Sarah & I watched and stayed warm. At first I was skeptical about even going but I'm so glad we did, I had a lot of fun and can't wait to go back next summer when it's really warm out. If you're ever up on the parkway near looking glass then I definitely recommend checking it out. This is a video of 3 guys kayaking Skinny Dip Falls, it obviously has a TON of water and isn't at all what it looked like while we were there but it gives you a better idea of what the "falls" look like. If you notice in the bottom right is a safety guy and he's standing right below where we jumped off and the water is at his feet so it was definitely higher than when we were there.
Hi. My name is Alleson and I'm obsessed with One Tree Hill. No, I really am. If you haven't seen it, go pull up netflix right now and start. The show has great story lines and even better characters & actors that you can't help falling in love with the show, so here are some main reasons why I love OTH.... 1. The Music: each episode is named after a song title and every time I hear Gavin Degraw I picture Lucas running across the bridge in a hoodie bouncing a basketball with the sun behind him. 2. Jamie: Jamie comes along later in the show but my goodness is this kid smart, like an 80 year old man wise type of smart. You can't help but love him and he never fails to make you smile when he's on screen. And not to mention he is SO adorable. 3. It's easy to connect with: OTH is one of those shows that you get so involved in. You root for Haley & Nathan, you hope that one day Lucas & Nathan can truly be brothers, you cry because of Peyton's sadness, you get mad every time Dan comes on screen. You find yourself feeling happy when they are and you feel sad when the character is. Call me crazy but it's true. 4. You'll always believe in true love: Not that I didn't believe before and even though they're just characters in a TV show you can't help but fall in love with the way these characters love each other. Whether it's Nathan & Hailey, Lucas & Payton, Julian & Brooke or Mouth & Milicent, you just believe in love and how they connect with each other 5. More Reality, less drama: This show focuses on so many things than you can actually relate to. Body images, heartache, loss, family, temptation, peer pressure seriously everything. The story lines seems so real life and the actors do such a good job of playing out the different emotions that you always find something or some situation that you connect with. This show won't ever get old, and I totally support a reunion show. You might think I'm nuts for liking a fictional TV show but it's one of those things that just pulls you in and you learn a lot from it.
Wait, it's already September 3rd...I feel like yesterday was March or something. I'm one of those people that once the calendar goes from August to September I start to transition into Fall mode. (sorrynotsorry) I just love fall and since I love beer I love the beers that come along with fall. Today I decided to post some of my favorite pumpkin beers, some I've already had stocked in our fridge but once it gets closer to the end of September I know more will be waiting! 1. Terrapin Pumpkinfest
2. Shock-top Pumpkin Wheat 3. Blue Mood Harvest Pumpkin Ale 4. Dogfish Head Punkin' Ale 5. Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale A lot of the local breweries around here also have great pumpkin beers that they brew seasonally but don't normally put into stores, which stinks because they're all so good and I wish more people outside of the area could try them. I've also noticed a lot of the locally brewed ones tend to be high gravity beers. My favorite out of the list above is Blue Moon's harvest pumpkin, that's one you'll find in my fridge right now. Feel free to add an suggestions of ones you like, I love trying new ones! this weekend recap brought to you by a picture dump, because I'm not feeling well at all today and as much as I wish I had a good blog post for you, I just don't today. This weekend was a good one, other than having to work all weekend (over and done with that//long story) but we went out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary and just enjoyed relaxing and sleeping in. Yesterday we played some disc golf then while Michael was out helping a friend move I stayed home to catch up on cleaning and getting some bills paid. It went by way too fast though, I'm looking forward to this weekend where I actually have the time to get out and do something! Friday for lunch by friend Maryann and I walked up to the apple festival to indulge in yummy festival food and it was totally worth it Later Friday night when I got home from work I walked into this all set up on our kitchen table, I was so surprised! Michael isn't a fan of giving/buying gifts so for him to go out and do all of this was so sweet, and the candles he picked out smell SO good! Also, sunflower seeds...totally not weird. I eat those things like I drink water, aka a lot. I took this on our way to dinner and I'm not gonna lie it was probably the 5th (more like 10th) take and Michael was clearly not able to handle the flash that many times in a row (sorry babe!) but the only one we got at the restaurant was too blurry to post. For dinner we had no set plans...or reservations on a Saturday night but we knew we wanted to try a place we had never been before so we decided to wing it. We walked around and read a few menus and decided on a place called Lex 18. It's a 1920/1930's themed moonshine bar. Some of the waitresses were even dressed up as flapper girls and they had a small swing band playing so the atmosphere was great. Michael ordered watauga pork and I got grilled duck...both were so delicious and their drinks although quite strong were really good as well. After dinner we walked to another place and got ice-cream to end the night. Pax pretty much sums up how the weekend ended, lots of relaxing and watching Netflix, because they finally added season 3 of Once Upon A Time, so while Michael was out this was pretty much how we spent our afternoon and it was wonderful.
